SAWA Wins Sixth Award
November 26, 2021During the World Architecture Festival 2021, held online from December 1st to 3rd, SAWA was awarded first prize in the 'Future Projects – Experimental' category. SAWA outperformed seven other nominated projects in this category.
Sixth Award for SAWA
With the commencement of SAWA's construction imminent, the first prize at WAF elevates SAWA's total to an impressive six award recognitions. Previously, the building had already secured first prize at the Green Good Design Awards and the ARC20 Innovation Award, received a Highly Recommended distinction at the MIPIM/AR Future Project Awards, earned a Special Mention at the Architizer A+ Awards, and was selected for the Iconic Awards for Innovative Architecture.
SAWA's revolutionary concept demonstrates the progressive stance of clients and architects in the field of circular timber construction, biodiversity, and the creation of healthy communities. The conviction and determination to not only design but also realize a concept like SAWA is fueled by the ambition to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and achieving (inter)national climate goals. SAWA, also known as the 'healthiest building in the Netherlands,' is thus a model project for new generations, an important step in sustainability objectives, and demonstrable proof that things can be done differently.
About WAF
The World Architecture Festival is the largest inclusive and interactive architecture awards program globally. The festival annually attracts thousands of entries (across the Completed Building, Future Project, and Interior categories) and serves as a unique meeting point for architects, clients, and suppliers. Due to COVID-19, this year's festival was held online from December 1st to 3rd, rather than live in Lisbon.
